Course Description

This course covers the doctrine of man (Anthropology), sin (Hamartiology), and salvation (Soteriology). Anthropology includes the creation and fall of man, his material and immaterial parts (the body, soul, and spirit), his state of innocence, fall, and depravity. Hamartiology looks at the origin of sin, the effect of sin, and the means for victory over sin. The study of Soteriology will cover the meaning of substitution, redemption, reconciliation, propitiation, justification, and adoption.

Course Objectives

1. Articulate the meaning of key theological terms pertaining to Theological Anthropology, Hamartiology, and Soteriology.
2. Demonstrate comprehension of the historical development of the doctrines covered in this course.
3. Evaluate current thoughts and trends in each of the doctrines studied in this course.
4. Formulate biblical answers to key theological questions raised by the contemporary church and/or the world that pertain to these doctrines
